The Wahalkada–Kapugollawa Road Near Yan Oya Reservoir Is Open to the Public

In line with the Government's policy vision of "A Rich Country – A Beautiful Life," the Vahalkada–Kapugollawa Road, located near the Yan Oya Reservoir, was officially opened to the public on 2 July under the "Wari Mahima – Ape Urumaya" programme implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation.

The road, which had remained in a severely deteriorated condition for an extended period due to inadequate maintenance, was further damaged by Cyclone Ditwa.

A total of Rs. 754.65 million was allocated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation for the rehabilitation of the road. The project was implemented by the Irrigation Department.

Due to the poor condition of the road over a prolonged period, bus services along the route had also been disrupted. Following the completion of the rehabilitation work, a new bus service was introduced, providing improved transportation facilities for residents in the surrounding communities.

The reopening of the Vahalkada–Kapugollawa Road is expected to improve connectivity and transportation facilities for the people of the area, while supporting their day-to-day economic and social activities.
