වැලිගම ගොවිජන සේවා බල ප්රදේශයේ ඉල්වත්ත අමුණ ප්රතිසංස්කරණය කිරීමේ කටයුතු ආරම්භ කෙරේ
කෘෂිකර්ම, පශු සම්පත්, ඉඩම් හා වාරිමාර්ග අමාත්යාංශය යටතේ ක්රියාත්මක කෙරෙන "වාරි මහිම – අපේ උරුමය" ජාතික වැව් ප්රතිසංස්කරණ වැඩසටහනට අදාළව වැලිගම ගොවිජන සේවා බල ප්රදේශයේ ඉල්වත්ත අමුණ ප්රතිසංස්කරණය කිරීමේ කටයුතු පසුගිය අගෝස්තු 02 වන දින කෘෂිකර්ම, පශු සම්පත්, ඉඩම් හා වාරිමාර්ග අමාත්යාංශය අමාත්ය ලාල් කාන්ත මැතිතුමන්ගේ ප්රධානත්වයෙන් ආරම්භ කෙරිණි.
මෙම සමාරම්භක උත්සවයට සඳහා අමාත්ය සුනිල් හදුන්නෙත්ති මැතිතුමන් සහ නියෝජ්ය අමාත්ය අක්රම් ඉල්ලෙයාස් මැතිතුමන් ඇතුලු දේශපාලන රාජ්ය නිළධාරීන් පිරිසකගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් මෙම කටයුත්ත සිදු විය. මෙමඟින් ප්රදේශයේ ජනතාවගේ කෘෂිකාර්මික නිෂ්පාදනය ඉහළ නැංවීමට මෙන්ම ප්රදේශයේ ජල කළමනාකරණය සහ ආහාර සුරක්ෂිතතාව ශක්තිමත් කිරීමටද දායකත්වයක් සැලසෙනු ඇත.
Rehabilitation of Ilwatta Anicut Commences Under the "Wari Mahima – Our Heritage" National Programme
Weligama, Sri Lanka – August 2, 2026: Rehabilitation work on the Ilwatta Anicut in the Weligama Agrarian Service Division officially commenced under the "Wari Mahima – Our Heritage" National Tank Rehabilitation Programme, implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation.
The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, Hon. Lal Kantha, marking another significant milestone in the Government's ongoing commitment to restoring Sri Lanka's irrigation infrastructure and strengthening the agricultural sector.
The event was attended by Minister Hon. Sunil Handunnetti, Deputy Minister Hon. Akram Illyas, along with political representatives, government officials, and other distinguished guests.
The rehabilitation of the Ilwatta Anicut is expected to significantly improve irrigation efficiency, ensuring a more reliable water supply for agricultural activities across the area. The project will also contribute to enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting sustainable water resource management, and strengthening food security for farming communities in the Weligama region.
The "Wari Mahima – Our Heritage" National Tank Rehabilitation Programme aims to restore and preserve Sri Lanka's historic irrigation network while supporting long-term agricultural development and improving the livelihoods of rural communities.

வெலிகம விவசாய சேவைப் பிரிவுப் பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ள இல்வத்த அணைக்கட்டைப் புனரமைக்கும் பணிகள் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.
விவசாயம், கால்நடை வளம், காணி மற்றும் நீர்ப்பாசன அமைச்சின் கீழ் நடைமுறைப்படுத்தப்படும் "வாரி மஹிம – எமது பாரம்பரியம்" எனும் தேசிய குளம் புனரமைப்புத் திட்டத்தின் கீழ், வெலிகம விவசாய சேவைப் பிரிவுப் பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ள இல்வத்த அணைக்கட்டைப் புனரமைக்கும் பணிகள், கடந்த ஆகஸ்ட் மாதம் 02ஆம் திகதி விவசாயம், கால்நடை வளம், காணி மற்றும் நீர்ப்பாசன அமைச்சர் லால் காந்த அவர்களின் தலைமையில் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்டன.
இந்த ஆரம்ப விழாவில் அமைச்சர் சுனில் ஹந்துன்னெத்தி அவர்கள் மற்றும் பிரதி அமைச்சர் அக்ரம் இல்லியாஸ் அவர்கள் உள்ளிட்ட அரசியல் மற்றும் அரச அதிகாரிகள் பலரின் பங்கேற்புடன் இந்நிகழ்வு இடம்பெற்றது. இதன் மூலம் பிராந்தியத்து மக்களின் விவசாய உற்பத்தியை மேம்படுத்துவதோடு, அப்பகுதியின் நீர் முகாமைத்துவத்தையும் உணவுப் பாதுகாப்பையும் பலப்படுத்துவதற்கும் பங்களிப்பு கிடைக்கும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
