Farmers' Meeting – Embilipitiya

A farmers' meeting was held recently, on July 24, at the D. A. Rajapaksa Memorial Centre in Embilipitiya, with the participation of Hon. K. D. Lal Kantha, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation.

The programme was organized to recognize and appreciate the farmers who have made an invaluable contribution to strengthening the country's agricultural sector by achieving higher crop yields, as well as to educate the farming community on the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation's future plans and programmes.

The event was attended by Susanta Kumara Navaratne, Chairman of the National Farmers' Federation and Member of Parliament representing the Anuradhapura District; Dr. Wasantha Kumarasiri, Hon. Chairman of the Embilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha; Hon. Gamini Keerthilal, Chairman of the Embilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha; along with other political representatives, government officials, representatives of farmer organizations, and a large number of farmers from the Embilipitiya area.

The gathering provided an opportunity to recognize the valuable contribution of the farming community and to engage with farmers regarding the future direction and programmes of the Ministry.
