තිඹිල්ල – තලවිල්ල එල්ලංගා පද්ධතියේ වැව් සංවර්ධනය කිරීම
"වාරි මහිම – අපේ උරුමය" ජාතික වැඩසටහන යටතේ පුත්තලම දිස්ත්රික්කයේ හලාවත ප්රාදේශීය ලේකම් කොට්ඨාසයට අයත් තිඹිල්ල – තලවිල්ල එල්ලංගා පද්ධතියට අයත් වැව් සංවර්ධනය කිරීම සඳහා යෝජනා වී තිබේ.
ශ්රී ලංකාවේ සාම්ප්රදායික ග්රාමීය වාරි උරුමය සුරක්ෂිත කරමින්, එල්ලංගා පද්ධති සහ කුඩා වැව් ප්රතිසංස්කරණය කිරීම තුළින් කෘෂිකාර්මික කටයුතු සඳහා අවශ්ය ජල සම්පාදනය ශක්තිමත් කිරීම සහ ගොවි ජනතාවගේ ජීවනෝපාය නංවාලීම මෙම වැඩසටහනේ ප්රධාන අරමුණකි.
ඒ අනුව, තිඹිල්ල – තලවිල්ල එල්ලංගා පද්ධතිය ආශ්රිත වැව්වල වර්තමාන තත්ත්වය නිරීක්ෂණය කරමින් ඉදිරි සංවර්ධන කටයුතු පිළිබඳ අවශ්යතා හඳුනා ගැනීම සඳහා විශේෂ නිරීක්ෂණ චාරිකාවක් පසුගියදා සිදු කෙරිණි.
Development of Tanks in the Thimbilla–Talawila Cascade System
Under the "Wari Mahima – Ape Urumaya" National Programme, a number of tanks belonging to the Thimbilla–Talawila cascade system in the Chilaw Divisional Secretariat Division of the Puttalam District have been proposed for development.
A key objective of the programme is to preserve Sri Lanka's traditional rural irrigation heritage while strengthening agricultural water resources and improving the livelihoods of farming communities through the rehabilitation of cascade systems and small village tanks.
Accordingly, a special inspection visit was recently conducted to assess the current condition of the tanks within the Thimbilla–Talawila cascade system and to identify the requirements for their future development and rehabilitation.
The proposed improvements are expected to strengthen the local irrigation network, enhance water availability for agricultural activities and contribute to improving the economic well-being of farming communities in the area.
